Imagine receiving the breastfeeding/chestfeeding care and education you seek from a lactation consultant in the comfort of your own home. Dress in whatever is most comfortable. The visit includes a detailed discussion of your concerns, reviewing the pregnancy and birth experience, the health history of pertinent physical exam of parent and baby, observing the baby feeding, practicing feeding techniques, a detailed plan for addressing your concerns, and written plan for follow-up. A letter summarizing the visit will be e-mailed to you and sent to the referring physician, midwife or nurse practitioner. Both parents are encouraged to participate in the visit and other family members are welcomed upon parent’s request.
